Muquim Ahmed came to England at the age of 19 to study Production Engineering. He studied at South East London College at Lewisham from 1974 to 1976.
Muquim Ahmed enjoyed a privileged education in Bangladesh. He was the founder pupil of Blue Bird School in Sylhet, Bangladesh from 1960 to 1963. His Foundation School was at the renowned “Our Lady Fatima Cambridge School” in Comilla, from 1963 to 1967. He studied in Dawood Public High School Jessore, from 1967 to 1969. His College was Government College in Sylhet, Bangladesh where he did his H.S.C and Honours in Physics from 1970 to 1974.
During his pursuit of engineering studies in London, SELTEC, Lewisham Way, SE4 1UT in 1974 he helped his brother import from Britain and Holland into Bangladesh.
By 1977, Muquim Ahmed was deep into business helping his family to import electrical appliance from UK (GEC consumer goods) and Holland (Phillips Household Goods) into Bangladesh. Later, the business expanded to importation of used Bedford trucks from UK and re-conditioned cars from Japan. “We were sending on average 5 containers a month from UK port and a couple from Japan and Holland”.
